Metalcast Teams Built Dashboards for Five Business Functions

The reporting problem

Production and support teams already maintain detailed spreadsheets. Reviewing trends across machines, defects, materials and employee records often requires separate reports, filters and formulas. Each department also has its own definitions and data issues.

What the teams built

Production and cost-control dashboards

Participants turned existing records into interactive views of production, downtime, rejection categories and materials use. The production team compared parts of its output with an existing dashboard to check the figures.

IT and HR dashboards

Other teams created views of service-request progress, headcount and employee movement. Filters helped them inspect particular periods and categories.

A monthly customer-returns skill

One participant refined a reusable AI process to organize returns by customer, defect and department and prepare an analysis with suggested preventive actions. The instructions can be run again with a new month’s file after further testing.

Takeaway for business leaders

Start with one department's current reporting file and the questions its managers need answered. Confirm the KPI definitions before building the dashboard.

Metalcast's exercises also exposed inconsistent entries and data-cleaning needs. Those issues should be resolved before the dashboards are adopted for regular management reporting.
